For those of us who can’t just book a tropical vacation to escape the horrendous Polar Vortex, visiting your local green house is a wishful alternative. Sure, it’s a rather brief, “vacation”, but the thick air will soon envelope you with its fragrant, earthy smell and before you know it, you’ve been transported to a lush, jungle getaway (Amazon Rainforest? Cambodian jungle? Hawaii perhaps?).
Alright, so you can’t exactly show up in your bikini, beach bag in tow, expecting to find fresh coconut juice. But you can sit down, plug into some summery beach tunes, close your eyes and embrace the fact that this glass miracle is a lot warmer than your apartment, and the blowing wind outside, right? At least that’s what I kept trying to tell myself.
Taking advantage of the fact that Allan Gardens Conservatory is just minutes away from campus, Brianna and I made a visit last week (when the weather was in the single-digit negatives!) for a change of scenery. Ironically, the winter greyness followed us via my outfit–just goes to show how much the weather can really affect your mood and dress!
